Chunks of history surface in massive interchange project in Colorado Springs

Construction of a landmark infrastructure project in Colorado Springs has yielded an unexpected discovery: remnants of an iconic downtown building razed more than 60 years ago. The intricately carved slabs were part of the facade on the original First National Bank building, once located where The Gazette now stands. Today, the stone pieces adorn the landscape of the new interchange at Interstate 25 and U.S.
