An armed man barricaded himself in his Ruth Street home late Thursday and was in a standoff with county authorities who were trying to talk him into surrendering. “Obviously, it’s a very dangerous situation when you have someone armed,” said Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Doug Barfield. “He has expressed intent to harm himself or others.” Ruth Street runs between Great Falls Highway and Springdale Road and is a block away from the junction of Airport and Memorial Park roads.
