Witness for Botley says former BISD auditor met standards

A long-awaited ruling on a former Beaumont ISD auditor's accountancy license is not expected until 2018, after eight days of hearings rehashing his work and papers from 2010, 2011 and 2012 ended this week. Elvis Foster, a designated expert witness for Gayle Botley, testified Thursday that though some of the BISD papers had "some rough edges," they substantially complied with auditing standards, a claim the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy is disputing. Administrative Law Judge Michael O'Malley will rule in 2018 whether Botley can keep his Certified Public Accountant license, after Botley and the state board file briefs and responses in December and January.
