County amends contracts that deal with poverty

LIMA —The Allen County commissioners approved a resolution to amend Allen County Healthier Buckeye Council Community Navigation Sub-grant agreements between the Allen County Family and Children First Council, Allen County commissioners and community organizations including United Way and Allen County Job and Family Services, during a meeting Tuesday. “Raising the contracts for three of our grantees and lowering for one,” said Amber Martin, coordinator for Children and Family First. The Healthier Buckeye grants provided a total of $740,000 to be divided up among United Way, Allen County Job and Family Services, Allen County Child Support Enforcement Agency, Allen County Children Services and Allen County Family and Children First Council, to be used to help needy families overcome obstacles preventing self-sufficiency, Martin said. “It is for community navigation for self-sufficiency,” she said.
