U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, a Colorado Democrat, called President Trump’s decision to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program “the height of cruelty” and called on Congress to come up with a plan to replace it. “Today’s announcement is a devastating betrayal for the hundreds of thousands of individuals who have used the security of DACA status to receive an education, pursue careers, and safely put down roots in their communities,” Bennet said in a statement.
