Tree removal at Colorado Springs open space has advocates upset

Oak and mahogany trees are under attack at Colorado Springs' Stratton Open Space, some outdoor advocates say. And they plan to give the city a piece of their mind Wednesday at the Trails Open Spaces and Parks Working Committee meeting. What began as a wildfire mitigation project has somehow transformed into a "restoration" project and put Stratton's natural landscape in danger, said Kent Obee, former chairman of the city's Parks Advisory Board.
