Texas Gulf Coast assesses damage from Hurricane Harvey

VICTORIA, Texas —Residents across the Texas Gulf Coast began to survey the damage Saturday after Hurricane Harvey came ashore Friday night as a powerful Category 4 storm, injuring at least 10, drenching low-lying coastal areas, tearing roofs off buildings and leaving nearly 300,000 without power. It was the first Category 4 hurricane to hit the United States since Hurricane Charley struck Florida in 2004, and the first to hit Texas since Hurricane Carla in 1961. The eye of the storm landed about 10 p.m.
