The Colorado Department of Transportation on Thursday announced it has selected Kiewit Meridiam Partners to spearhead the $1.2 billion project to expand Interstate 70 through northeast Denver and Aurora. CDOT executive director Shailen Bhatt said at a news conference that Kiewit Meridiam’s schedule and plans rose the top of list of four groups bidding on the massive infrastructure initiative — the state’s largest ever — in part because of the possibility of finishing them finishing construction six months early. The project calls for the widening of the six-lane interstate between Brighton Boulevard and Chambers Road to add a new managed express toll lane in each direction.
