San Antonio trademarks “Military City” moniker

The Office of Military Affairs, headed by Juan G. Ayala, a retired Marine major general, worked for a year to obtain the trademark. City officials traced the first use of the phrase to an ad in the San Antonio Light in the 1950s, Karen Rolirad, deputy director to Ayala, said. In the future, organizations wanting to use the phrase “Military City, USA” will have to contact the City Attorney or Public Affairs Office.
