Dangerous marble in Orange Co. courthouse will soon undergo repair

A year after Orange County closed the front entrance to its courthouse because officials feared Italian marble suspended overhead could fall on people below, county commissioners have taken the first step toward repairing the historic 80-year-old building. Speaking at a Tuesday workshop, John Dineen, a representative from Houston-based architecture firm HDR, Inc., said the county will need to submit a master plan for approval by the Texas Historical Society before it can begin any work.
