By Caleb Bedillion Daily Journal TUPELO – City officials huddled Monday morning with Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson to discuss the future of Lee County’s jail and to smooth out any strained relations. Officials emerged from the meeting promising renewed efforts at cooperation and improved communication. This comes as the county-owned jail has increasingly emerged as a source of discontent between local leaders. “We are more than willing to work with the county and the sheriff to work together for a result that is good for all of Lee County,” said Tupelo Chief Operations Officer Don Lewis. The sheriff likewise pledged to maintain ongoing conversations. “The absolute best thing is for everyone to work together,” said Johnson.
