Screen Scene: ‘Ghost in the Shell’ swallowed by its own restraint

Scott Morris Daily Journal It must not be easy to make an atmospheric, sci-fi thriller set in a grungy, dystopian future. Fair or not, every attempt gets compared to 1982’s “Blade Runner,” a nearly impossible bar to meet, much less surpass. “Ghost in the Shell” covers some of the same territory as “Blade Runner.” In a world where robots can look, act and feel like humans, what’s the ultimate difference between the two? Technically, Major (Scarlett Johansson) isn’t a robot but a cyborg.
