Years after Tupelo tornado, Comfort Suites breaks new ground

By Dennis Seid Daily Journal TUPELO – About a year from now, a new Comfort Suites hotel will open, adding another 75 rooms to the approximately 1,500 now available in the city. The hotel is being built by Vee Patel, who has owned the Baymont Inn and Suites in Tupelo for 11 years. A groundbreaking ceremony was hosted Tuesday on the hotel site on Carter Cove, adjacent to Hampton Inn & Suites and behind Lowe’s. The hotel’s construction will mark the return of the brand, albeit in a different location. The previous Comfort Suites was on North Gloster Street, having been built in 2008.
