Emergency officials said the fire broke out at around 6:40 p.m. in a barn on Church Street South and was fully engulfed with flames by the time firefighters arrived on scene. Because of the lack of a public water supply in the area, which is common in more rural areas of the county, Heibeck said tanker trucks from several neighboring towns came to assist including from Wilton, Ridgefield, Bethel and Redding’s two other volunteer departments, Redding Ridge and West Redding. According to property records, the property is owned by Bradley Scher in 1983 and includes both a main residence and at least one barn.
