NWS: Nor’easter to hit Conn. with strong winds, rain

A “significant” nor’easter bringing heavy rain and strong winds is expected to hit Connecticut starting late Sunday. “Downed trees and power lines are likely with numerous power outages,” the National Weather Service says in a statement. The morning and afternoon commute could be rough with heavy rain and strong winds. “Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles and on elevated roads and bridges.,” the NWS says. The National Weather Service says winds are expected between 30 and 40 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph. Because the temperature will be above freezing, no snow or a wintry mix is expected along the coast. The bulk of the rain is currently forecast to fall in the NYC metro area during the day Monday and into the first half of Monday night, according to a NWS NY Facebook post.
