STAMFORD — The Board of Representatives recognized a city man and former U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who was inducted last month into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. Archie Elam, 61, spent two decades in the armed forces after graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and is commander of the Fairfield County branch of Connecticut’s Veterans of Foreign Wars. The hall of fame was created in 2005 to recognize Connecticut veterans who make significant contributions to their communities after leaving military service.
