Denver Pioneers hockey forward Jack Devine was named National Player of the Month for October. During the first month of the season, Devine led the NCHC and NCAA in scoring with 14 points on 13 assists and one goal. The Pios senior is averaging 2.33 points per game on the young season.

Myles Purchase, a two-way star in Cherry Creek’s 2020 title game victory, was one player among a list of Bruins who led them to those two perfect seasons and who now have become key contributors for teams in this year’s College Football Playoff race. Most days, passing game coordinator John Morton would remind him — sometimes calmly, sometimes more animated — to work on a detail so small you’d never notice it during a game.
