Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein's smile looked exceptionally strained by the end of her interview with the five hosts of The View on Wednesday morning. In rapid-fire succession, the hosts tried to get to the bottom of why Stein is raising money to file recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Stein insisted her recount effort was not launched with the intent to help Hillary Clinton at President-elect Donald Trump's expense, prompting host Joy Behar to ask: "What are you really trying to prove then?" Stein said the goal was to "help voters feel like we've got a system that's working for us" rather than to "help one candidate." Then, host Jedediah Bila came on with a question about whether Stein really would've gone through this trouble if, say, Hillary Clinton had won the election.
