Schenectady man cleared of murder, convicted on weapon charge

A jury on Friday acquitted Stanley Morris of murder and manslaughter charges in the Sept. 25, 2015, stabbing of James "Jizzy" Jackson outside the Yates Village apartments, but found him guilty of felony weapon possession. The victim's friend, Christopher "C" Mortimore, testified he confronted Morris over a rumored prior sexual encounter between Morris and his girlfriend. Prosecutors said Morris drew the steak knife and jabbed Mortimore but the knife was still in its sheath and did not hurt him.
