University of Akron approves extra paid leave — but no raises — for non-bargaining employees

The University of Akron board of trustees on Wednesday approved giving five additional paid leave days to non-bargaining employees in lieu of 3 percent raises.UA officials said the university is unable to provide the same 3 percent raise given to bargaining unit employees negotiated in contracts earlier this year.But officials said they still wanted to give the employees some recognition.
