Augusta grateful to hurricane volunteers; a few items still needed

Augusta officials expressed gratitude Saturday to the volunteers, organizations and companies helping out as the city shelters thousands of Hurricane Matthew evacuees, but there are a few unmet needs. Many Savannah residents bused in to Richmond County Board of Education shelters arrived without many belongings and need adult- and youth-sized T-shirts, socks and underwear and adult diapers, size XXL, according to fire and emergency management spokeswoman Dee Griffin. read more
