A man who died after a trench collapsed in American Fork on Friday has been identified as 41-year-old Antonio Gonzales, of Provo. The accident occurred while a crew was excavating the trench with heavy machinery to lay a water line in a subdivision at about 530 South and 860 East, police said. A worker had jumped into the trench to work with a shovel when the ground collapsed under him, trapping his legs in dirt up to mid-thigh, police said.
