The Miami Marlins will retire the No. 16 to honor José Fernández, who died in a boat crash on Sunday. Team owner Jeffrey Loria told reporters that no one will wear No. 16 for the Marlins again. Monday night will be the last time Marlins players wear the number on their uniforms—each team member will wear Fernández’s number in a game against the New York Mets to honor the late star pitcher. Fernández was one of three people killed in the boat crash off Miami Beach, the U.S.
