Pilot from Lake City with 6 children dies in California spy plane crash

BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. | A pilot who died after ejecting from a U-2 spy plane that crashed in Northern California was identified as Lake City native Lt. Col. Ira S. Eadie. He spent time flying in Jacksonville during his stint in the Navy. He was stationed at Jacksonville Naval Air Station for about eight months in 1999, according to his service records. Eadie graduated from Columbia County High School in 1989 and joined the Navy in 1996 before transferring to the Air Force in 2010, according to the Lake City Reporter. read more
