Police and school officials are taking extra precautions after two attempted child abductions in the last month. Police said Lee admitted to investigators that he saw the girl on Greenwood Avenue on Aug. 14, thought she was attractive and might be “interested in dating her.” In an apparently unrelated incident, police said, a man in a black sedan apparently attempted to abduct a 12-year-old child walking home Sept.1 from a bus stop on Woodland Drive. First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker said police are treating both incidents seriously. “We don’t want to frighten children and have them live a life of fear, but at the same time reasonable caution around strangers is a good lesson to teach children,” he said.
