Kenny Hill's penalized gesture was religious symbol, not throat slash, TCU coach Patterson says

TCU quarterback Kenny Hill was making a religious gesture rather than a throat-slash taunt when he was penalized on Saturday against Arkansas, Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson said. The gesture means "Rising King" in sign language, according to the coach. Patterson told reporters on the Big 12 coaches' call that he found out about the meaning of the gesture after the game on Monday. If you can't see the tweet on mobile, tap here.Hill was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after scoring a late touchdown against Arkansas that gave the Frogs a 28-20 lead. The fifteen-yard penalty, enforced on the kickoff, allowed the Razorbacks to gain good enough field position to drive down the field and tie the game to force overtime, resulting in a 41-38 Arkansas win.Patterson said postgame that he wasn't aware of the reasoning for the penalty during the game.Hill was lambasted on Twitter for drawing the flag.
