For mother Kate DeLagrange, the toughest part of dealing with her 33-year-old son's heroin problem came before he was arrested on drug-related charges, when she let him become homeless in fear that she was enabling his addiction by supporting him. "It's the hardest thing in the world to take your kid out to dinner because he looks like he's starving to death and go deposit him at his favorite bush, give him a hug and tell him that you love him and hope he can beat this." DeLagrange, who lives in the town of Louisville in Boulder County, said tearfully during a panel discussion about opioid addiction at The Broadmoor Theatre on Saturday.
