GRANTVILLE, Ga. — Authorities say an 83-year-old Georgia woman was badly burned and critically injured during an attempted robbery at her home in Meriwether County. The Newnan Times-Herald reports that Dorothy Dow told police four men and one woman woke her late Thursday night, demanding money. Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith says when Dow told the group she didn’t have any, one person hit Dow across the face with a gun and another poured a flammable liquid on Dow and set her on fire. read more
