Fewer Duval, First Coast students miss school, bucking national trend of growing absences

In its first national report on chronic absenteeism, the federal government says more than 13 percent of public school students were absent from school at least 15 days during the 2013-14 school year. But Florida bucked the trend with the lowest chronic absentee rates in the country; only 4.5 percent of its students missed that much school.
