The weekend scoop A few woody perennial vines are very aggressive weeds in some landscapes. They grow fast in the spring and will keep growing back from their roots until the roots are gone. Poison ivy, greenbrier, grapevine, Virginia creeper and trumpet creeper are among the common vines. Poison ivy, greenbrier and trumpet creeper are native vines and may be present in new landscapes because the building and landscape process did not destroy the roots.
