GREEN Capitol Bureau rmgreen@oklahoman.comState tobacco trust fund gets $76M payment The tobacco industry has sent an annual payment of $76 million to the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Fund. Oklahoma now has received $1.32 billion in the fund since 1999 as part of a settlement agreement with the tobacco industry. “The endowment is generating investment income to fund vital work supported by the tobacco trust, including cancer research and combating tobacco addiction,” said state Treasurer Ken Miller, who chairs the trust fund's board of investors. “As approved by the voters, these funds are being used to improve the quality of life for our people.” This year's payment brings the trust fund balance to $1.02 billion.Read more on NewsOK.com
