Savannah City Council members heard on Friday a search firm’s plans for finding a new city manager, ahead of an expected vote to approve the $24,250 contract during the regular meeting next week. “I’m going to bring you so many great candidates you’re going to have a hard time choosing,” Colin Baenziger told the council during a selection committee meeting. Baenziger said his firm, Fla.-based Colin Baenzinger & Associates, will identify the city’s needs for the position, develop a recruitment brochure, conduct thorough background checks and evaluations before narrowing down the number of candidates to about five finalists. The firm does not reach out to employees hired by past clients, which would include Savannah’s former Assistant City Manager Chris Morrill, Baenziger said.
