Texas Gov. Greg Abbott requests federal aid for Southeast Texas floods

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday requested a presidential disaster declaration, which would allow for federal aid in a region inundated by a record flooding along the Sabine River. Abbott sent a seven-page letter to President Barack Obama on Friday requesting individual assistance, or aid for homeowners, and public assistance, which would recoup governmental entities for their emergency expenses.
