Savannah businessman Josey Sheppard Jr. formally announced his candidacy to replace longtime state Rep. Bob Bryant of Garden City on Monday. Bryant, 71, died in office last month not long after announcing he would not seek another term. Sheppard, who owns Sheppard Citgo on West Gwinnett Street, said he has the right experience to make economically sound decisions for residents. “I graduated from Windsor Forest High School and Savannah State University with a degree in banking and finance,” he said.
