Trumbull cops: Boy abducted, found safe the same day

TRUMBULL — A convicted cocaine wholesaler broke into a Unity Road house early Saturday, assaulted his estranged wife and took thousands of dollars in cash before abducting his 7-year-old son, police said. Police Chief Michael Lombardo said at a Saturday afternoon news conference the search was ongoing and town police were coordinating efforts with the Connecticut State Police, FBI, New York State Police and the New York City Police Department. According to federal court documents, the father supplied cocaine to the Latin Kings gang members, who then sold the drug to their customers in the Stamford area. State court records also list convictions for assault, disorderly conduct and driving under the influence and one pending case for breach of peace. Neighbors said they had never suspected any trouble at the Unity Road home where the abduction occurred, but were grateful for Amber Alerts and recommended that other residents sign up for them.
