Harrison County mass transit levy to be on May ballot

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - Harrison County voters are due to decide whether to extend a levy for five more years that has helped provide much of the budget for the Central West Virginia Transit Authority over the past three decades.County residents on May 10 will go to the polls to vote on whether to continue the levy, beginning on July 1, 2017, The Exponent Telegram reported.The proposed levy would raise $2.26 million in its first year and a five-year total of $12.51 million.Central West Virginia Transit Authority employs 42 people and has a fleet of more than 20 buses, as well as a trolley.
