Bethel police retain accreditation status

BETHEL — The town’s police department recently had its accreditation status renewed for four more years. The voluntary accreditation is a highly-regarded recognition given to select police departments for law enforcement excellence. Bethel first earned the status in 2007, and again in 2011. For the latest renewal, a team of CALEA officials visited the Bethel Police Department in August to assess its policies, management, operation and support services. During the four-year accreditation period, the department must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
