San Jose State-Fresno State preview

Longtime rivals with questions at quarterback meet in San Jose. For the Spartans, it’s not certain whether Kenny Potter can overcome a sprained ankle to make his third straight start. Potter (ankle) and running back Thomas Tucker (ankle) are questionable. Sophomore Zack Greenlee, who started the first two games, would figure to regain his starting spot, but Greenlee was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and drinking in public at a party early Sunday. Linebacker Brandon Hughes also was arrested at the party, accused of obstructing officers and resisting arrest. If Potter can’t play, San Jose State head coach Ron Caragher probably will go with senior Joe Gray, who started the season opener. Gray, though, struggled (4-for-10 for 20 yards, with an interception) in relief of Potter in last Saturday’s 35-21 loss at Oregon State. Caragher could take some pressure off whoever is the quarterback by giving the Bulldogs a heavy dose of running back Tyler Ervin.
