Police said an off-duty officer on Sept. 12 noticed an intoxicated man trying to unlock an older model Honda car door with what appeared to be a coat hanger at the CVS parking lot on South Street. The man said his friend had locked his keys in that car, but after checking the vehicle’s registration, officers learned the car had actually been stolen earlier that day from Lajoie’s Auto & Scrap Recycling on Triangle Street. Balzarini was charged with two felony counts of third-degree larceny and misdemeanor counts of possession of burglary tools, third-degree criminal trespass and using a motor vehicle without permission.
