Utah governor: Prison should go near Salt Lake City airport

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A move to build a new state prison west of Salt Lake City's airport has received final approval after Gov. Gary Herbert signed the proposal Thursday. The Republican governor announced during his monthly televised news conference on KUED-TV Thursday morning that he thinks the wetland-rimmed site about 3 miles west of Salt Lake City International Airport is the best place to build a facility housing 4,000-plus inmates.
