SANDERSON By Brandon Speck Daily Journal BELDEN – The weather would be better. The courses would be in better shape, the golfers at a higher level. But moving MHSAA golf from spring to fall may not be that simple. That was one of the proposals brought at Wednesday’s MHSAA District I meeting at ICC’s Belden campus. “My girls are gone, but I still 100 percent believe it’s the best thing,” said the proposer, New Albany AD Shane Sanderson, whose daughters played golf for the Bulldogs. Some coaches are concerned by the athlete-sharing issues the change could cause. Baldwyn representatives spoke up, saying their top golfers play football – and football coach Michael Gray led the team to five straight Class 2A golf titles through 2014. The proposal passed and will now be voted on in the October MHSAA legislative counsel meeting.
