Oahu's only construction debris landfill aiming for 100% renewable energy

Oahu’s only construction and demolition debris facility could run on 100 percent renewable energy, including solar and biofuel, by 2017, the landfill’s general manager confirmed to PBN this week. The 135-acre Leeward Oahu landfill, owned by Hawaii-based PVT Land Co. Ltd., is undergoing an expansion and will use a solar energy farm and feedstock from its recycling facility to power up its entire operation.
