Why talented British film-makers are invisible

Why is it that British directors who work on foreign films are largely ignored at home – unless, of course, they go to HollywoodAt this year's so-so Berlin festival, one of the more unusual offerings in competition was a film called Katalin Varga. Shot in the Carpathian mountains, among the Székely (ethnic Hungarian) communities of Romania, this rape-revenge tragedy with a difference felt like the latest discovery from eastern Europe.
