Prenatal care program taps women's knowledge

(Adolphe Pierre-Louis/Albuquerque Journal) Women are the experts in pregnancy and childbirth and can learn as much from one another as they can from physicians, health professionals said Thursday at the launch of a prenatal care program focused on group learning. The pilot program, based at a University of New Mexico clinic in Albuquerque, will begin enrolling pregnant women this fall in small group sessions, with the aim of improving birth outcomes for African-Americans.
