Woman gets 3 years in drunken-driver accident

Michelle Rivera, described as a woman with a big heart and a desire to help others, nevertheless caused immense harm to Robert Dilley on March 7, 2014, when she drove at speeds around 100 mph on Interstate 40 near Sixth Street. Dilley was going home from his job at the Sunport as an officer with Albuquerque Aviation Police Department when Rivera, 33, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.22 percent, swiped his Jeep and sent it – and him – tumbling end over end and spinning airborne into a wall and a light pole. The Jeep landed on its roof, and Dilley, 53, was found hanging upside down with a broken neck, along with injuries from being dragged 200 feet along the pavement. RIVERA: Her blood alcohol content was 0.22 percent Second Judicial District Judge Charles Brown sentenced Rivera on Friday to three years in prison but suspended 10 months based on her guilty plea to the indictment charging her with great bodily harm by vehicle and aggravated DWI. “From what I see from his bench, she’s not a bad person,” he said.
