Governor may speak at Taft oil summit

Congressman Kevin McCarthy will kick things off and Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens will be the headliner, but the last word at this fall's West Kern Petroleum Summit may go to Gov. Jerry Brown. After declining an invitation to the previous summit, in 2013, the governor's office has called twice to express interest in speaking at this year's event, Sheri Horn-Bunk, executive director of the event's organizer, the Taft College Foundation, said Thursday.
