Attorney: Man ran over Colorado Springs police officer's motorcycle in attempt to flee, not injure

BY KASSONDRA CLOOS kassondra.cloos@gazette.com -A man who backed over a police motorcycle in a Jeep didn't mean to hit the officer - he only meant to bump the bike to give him time to get away, his attorney said in 4th Judicial District Court on Monday.Robert Denhartog, 46, faces 17 charges, including attempted first-degree murder, for what a prosecutor said was an act of extreme indifference without regard for Officer Lee Doll's life.Denhartog is accused of backing over Doll's motorcycle on March 13 while Doll was putting down the kickstand after pulling Denhartog over on Centennial Boulevard for going 14 miles over the 35 mph speed limit. His attorney, Nathan Ojanen, didn't deny his client was driving, nor that Denhartog had hit the officer.
