By chhun sun chhun.sun@gazette.com -An apartment fire at a southwest Colorado Springs apartment complex forced families to evacuate and damaged two units deemed uninhabitable. Firefighters responded to a call about 3:21 a.m. Friday to the Cheyenne Crest Apartments on the 4100 block of Westmeadow Drive, according to Colorado Springs police. The fire spread to a porch and chimney in the complex before firefighters could contain it, Gazette news partner KKTV said. The Colorado Springs Fire Department controlled the fire around 5 a.m., KKTV said. The fire is under investigation, but police said arson is not suspected.
