Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has told President-elect Trump’s team he will not be accepting administration roles, despite being a top contender for positions including CIA director and Secretary of Defense, Axios reports.
Sen. Bernie Sanders is blaming the Democratic Party after Vice President Kamala Harris lost to now President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans gained control of the Senate, USA Today reports.
Said Sanders: “It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.
“President-elect Donald Trump’s allies are quickly jockeying for positions in a new Trump administration on the heels of his decisive victory, pitting loyalists against each other to land top roles in the new government,” CNN reports.
“Those with particular positions in mind have begun reaching out to members of Trump’s inner circle to try and talk themselves up.
“More than 42 million people watched coverage of the 2024 elections across 18 live TV networks Tuesday night, marking a 25% drop from the 56.9 million who watched live in 2020, according to Nielsen ratings,” Axios reports.
Tom Nichols: “In the end, a majority of American voters chose Trump because they wanted what he was selling: a nonstop reality show of rage and resentment. Some Democrats, still gripped by the lure of wonkery, continue to scratch their heads over which policy proposals might have unlocked more votes, but that was always a mug’s game.
On Wednesday morning, some of Trump’s favorite fans finally felt comfortable joking about what the next president has long denied: Project 2025 has always been the plan for a second Trump term.
“Now that the election is over I think we can finally say that yeah actually Project 2025 is the agenda.
