By William Crum, Staff WriterJames Cooper, a 32-year-old community activist and adjunct English professor, says he will try to unseat Oklahoma City Councilman Ed Shadid next year. Shadid already has announced plans to seek a second term representing Ward 2’s northwest-side neighborhoods. The election is in March, with any runoffs in April. In an interview, Cooper imagined a “connected” Oklahoma City with accessible public transit that opens economic opportunities to more citizens, and walkable neighborhoods that are safe for children heading to school. Sidewalks, streetlights and bus service enable more residents to participate — “school, work and play” — in their local communities, he said. “I want to be a champion for all that,” Cooper said.Read more on NewsOK.com
